Harvest the Money with Unknown Agriculture Scholarships for College

agriculture scholarships can be unknown scholarships

Many agriculture scholarships stay under the radar and fall into the catagory of unknown scholarships because agriculture doesn’t appear as celebrated as other scholarships today. Make no mistake on this industry, the agricultural business is rapidly growing and will only get bigger. This spells opportunity for students with an agricultural degree. How many of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers ever thought that farming would ever become an industry? Or that it would provide tens of thousands of dollars in agricultural scholarships to their grandchildren and great-grandchildren?

Not many, certainly. Despite their expectations, though, the food industry has funded a number of unknown scholarships for agriculture students throughout the United States. For example Annie’s Sustainable Agriculture Scholarships offers $50,000 in agriculture scholarship awards each year.

Students who are studying sustainable and/or organic agriculture are eligible to apply for this tuition assistance. To qualify, they must be enrolled in a two-year or four-year degree program at an accredited college or university in the United States. Applications are available online; the scholarships foundation prefers not to waste paper by using postal mail for applications and submissions.

Another agricultural scholarship is awarded by the Monsanto Company. It is called “The Commitment to Agriculture Scholarship,” and has been offered to more than 800 students throughout America. These scholarships for agriculture program is available for high school seniors. Eligible students will receive a one-time grant of $1,500 to assist with their college education. These students must also intend to major in agriculture at an accredited United States college or university.

Grants for agriculture students are plentiful in America’s Heartland. Purdue University, located in West Lafayette, Indiana, offers 69 different agriculture scholarships. Many of these are memorial scholarships.

For example, the F.R. Dick Willsey Memorial Scholarship Fund offers assistance for any student who has lost a parent as a result of a farming-related injury. This unknown scholarship is renewable, and the amount varies depending on need and quality of application submitted.

Upper classmen (and women) at Purdue University who maintain a grade point average (G. P. A.) of at least 3.3 are eligible to apply for Orville Redenbacher’s “Top of the Crop” Scholarship. One student will receive $2,000 in agricultural scholarship money, while one or two runner-ups will receive smaller awards.

If you’re a resident of Illinois, and wish to search for scholarships in agriculture, consider applying for the Farm Credit Services “At the Heart of a Growing America” agricultural scholarship. Be prepared to demonstrate your commitment to rural American and excellence in farming. Involvement in your community is another huge plus, according to the corporation responsible for this scholarships award. Qualified candidates will receive $1,000 to assist them in their education.

You don’t have to be from the nation’s breadbasket to win a scholarship in agriculture, though. The New York Farm Bureau offers between $1,000 and $1,500 to three top high school students who are planning to continue their education in agriculture. If you hurry, you can still make this year’s November 21 deadline!

If you’re planning to go to college and get a degree in agriculture you may want to consider the unusual scholarships in agriculture from the American Jersey Cattle Association (AJCA). Majoring in agriculture today is a lot more specialized than you could even imagine, and there is a lot more that meets the eye in this cattle scholarship industry.

If you’re planning to major in agriculture, and are willing to be flexible about the college you attend, you have no reason not to win one of these – and hundreds more – unknown scholarship opportunities to help you start a career in farming. Don’t miss out on an educational opportunity just because you didn’t try for one of these available agriculture scholarships!

Does any body love wine? Would you like a wine scholarship? A wine scholarship is a viticulture scholarship and is also clasified as an agricultural scholarship too. ASEV is a organization which focuses on enology and viticulture (fancy words for the science of wine making and grape growing) and sponsors their own wine scholarship. If this is something that gets your juices going, take the time to look into it.

      Suraya,

our best advice is to contact the educational department of your state you live in or the university you have attended to sit down with the financial aids counselor to discuss ways to fund your continuing education with grants, scholarships or student loans. They should be able to tell you exactly the best way for you to go.

You can apply to any scholarship we cover by going directly to the sponsor of the scholarships website and apply. We try to provide links at the end of the articles to apply too but many times sponsors will change the URL of the scholarship link so then we just explain the scholarship in our articles and then you can go directly to their scholarship website link by searching it on the web.
